You'll help by:

Carrying out a range of administrative tasks including updating the database with contact details, gift aid declarations, correspondence and financial information.

You will also

  • Provide support for the organisation of a range of fundraising events across the year.
  • Assist with research of prospective trusts, fundraising initiatives.

There will always be someone available to answer any questions; however, mostly you will work independently.

When: Flexible to meet the needs of the volunteer. Ideally Monday to Friday, 9am till 5pm. Anticipated time contribution of 2-4 hours per week. 

Where: Cam Sight office in Chesterton, Cambridge.

Skills, experience & qualities needed: 

  • Good interpersonal skills - you must enjoy interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds. Good conversational skills and being able to enquire in a non-intrusive way would be useful.
  • Happy to use a computer and databases without supervision.
  • Someone who has good attention to detail and ideally has experience using databases or willingness to learn.

  • Induction - including eye conditions, guiding techniques and equipment and sight awareness resources
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed
  • Volunteers are covered on our insurance

Information: 

You will have an informal interview and complete volunteer application forms. You will be asked to supply two contacts we can approach for references (work colleagues or friends but not family).  

We will carry out a DBS enhanced check.

Two social events are organised each year to bring volunteers together and celebrate their commitment to our community and contribution to our services - a summer cream tea and a Christmas party.
