Great news! The funding from the National Lottery has come through and the Ring Around service is up and running. Thank you for your interest in helping us to support our clients through this difficult time by making welfare check phone calls over a 3 month period.

How will Ring Around operate?

  • Ring Around will be in the form of a Welfare Check service
  • Volunteers will be asked to make 1 phone call to their client, each month, for 3 months
  • Volunteers will ask their client a short number of questions about their welfare and the responses will be recorded and emailed to our Cam Sight Ring Around service email address (and outcomes sent to the funders)

When would I start?

  • If you already have a DBS on the Update Service we can get you started as soon as it has been checked
  • If you don’t have a DBS, typically this takes around 4 weeks following your reference checks
  • If you would like to help but aren’t free just yet please still get in touch

Can I be involved for longer than 3 months?

  • Yes! Volunteers can, if they wish, take up the opportunity to join our ongoing befriending phone call service or start a fresh round of welfare check calls for a further three months (with a new client)

What happens next?

Firstly, we will need you to email Joy our Volunteer Manager on [email protected] to register your interest in volunteering with us. We will ask you to complete a Registration form and provide two references which may be work contacts or friends but not family. Following the receipt of your registration form a call will be arranged  to have a chat, discuss your roll and fill out a DBS application. Once you have received your DBS we will meet in person to verify the paperwork. You will receive a copy of our Volunteer Welcome Pack and the guidelines for the Ring Around Service along with the contact details of the client/s you will be calling. At this point you will be ready to get started!

Best wishes

Joy and Kate (Volunteer Team)
