Cam Sight are thrilled to be chosen to benefit from the 2019 Hoohaah running season alongside Cambridge City Food Bank. In return for Hoohaah's support we will be providing marshals at the following running events:

Thetford Forest 10K
Sunday 10 March

Childerley Estate 10k
Sunday 28 April

Wimpole Estate 10k
Sunday 19 May

Wimpole Estate 10m and half marathon
Sunday 6 October

We are looking for volunteers to help us organise these tremendous events, enjoyed by both volunteers and competitors on race day.

Marshal roles are varied and include:

Registration desk

The desk is highly organised and a race director or experienced registration marshal is always on hand to answer any questions. The atmosphere is fun - runners are getting excited and anxious to start - race numbers and chips need to be handed out as quickly as possible in order not to delay the race warm up and start.

Car park marshals

All venues require 3 - 4 car park marshals who will be accompanied either by a staff member from the venue and/or an experienced Hoohaah car parker.

NB - The above two positions can be 'manned' by volunteers who then wish to run the race.

Route marshals

This is the main role for marshals and is fundamental to the success of the race as route marshal provide directions, contact with first aid in the event of an emergency and they offer vital support and encouragement for the runners. Hoohaah like their marshals to be very vocal!

Water station marshals

There is a water station at the half way point of every 10k and several along the half marathon/10 mile routes. Marshals are needed to set up and hand out water at the half way point and clear away used cups.

Free race place

Volunteers who marshal are entitled to a free race place for themselves, family or friend. (Registration & car park marshals can run in the race). We are not able to provide transport to the runs but all volunteers are given a tea/coffee voucher to be redeemed at the café of the venue plus a homemade flapjacl/museli bar.

All marshals are asked to arrive for a 8am (Wimpole)/8.30am briefing before setting off to their stations. Races start at 9.30am/10am and the last 10k runner is usually finished by 11am/11.30am and the last half marathon runner finishes around 1pm.
