About CamSight

CamSight is a local charity supporting people of all ages across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who are living with sight loss. We enhance independence and wellbeing through a range of services, including information and advice, accessibility support, emotional support, counselling, befriending, and peer support activities.

We are currently seeking a qualified counsellor to join our Emotional Support team as a trainee sight loss counsellor intern.

About the role

This role offers the opportunity to deliver short-term, time-limited counselling to individuals impacted by sight loss. The post is suitable for qualified or newly qualified counsellors looking to gain experience and client hours towards accreditation.

Counselling is provided remotely via telephone or Teams, with full organisational support and clinical supervision.

Contract type: Fixed term 9-month contract, part time (21 hours per week)
Location: Remote, home-working

Key responsibilities

• Provide short-term, person-centred, and/or integrative counselling to individuals affected by sight loss
• Build a caseload of clients and related administration tasks
• Deliver counselling sessions remotely via telephone or online platforms
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with BACP ethical standards and CamSight GDPR policies
• Attend regular clinical supervision in accordance with BACP ethical guidance

This role has a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the successful applicant be a person who is blind or partially sighted, in line with The Equality Act 2010.
