Our Volunteer Rosie's Story Shining the light on Volunteer Rosie Stebbing! Rosie lives in Cambridge and has volunteered at CamSight for seven years. Passionate about the community, she started as a volunteer at the group 'Coffee and Chat', set up with Anne Whitmore (pictured on our banner photo in the middle) and Helen Lockwood (left). The volunteer team wanted to create a space where people experiencing a visual impairment can come together and talk about their shared experiences. Rosie has the unique position of also being one of our clients, as well as a volunteer. “I want people with a sight-loss condition to understand that they are always included and valued, and that it may take time but once you accept the condition you can hopefully begin to move on. Help is out there, and charities such as CamSight can really support you with adaptions and making improvements to your everyday life." Rosie has always promised to give back to the charities which have helped her and says: “Being able to volunteer for a charity which has supported me means I understand exactly what the person is going through. There is mutual understanding for the loss you may feel when you lose your sight for example. “Volunteering for a charity can be so rewarding, and if you think you want to try, just come and give it a go and don’t delay.
