We would like to say a big thank you to the EMBL-EBI Training Team for inviting us to deliver a sight loss awareness talk this week. It was great to see their commitment to making learning accessible and inclusive.

Sharing Ideas and Practical Guidance

We delivered the session to around 15 members of the EMBL-EBI Training Team, sharing practical ways to improve accessibility for people living with sight loss. The team engaged fully in the discussions and asked thoughtful questions throughout.

Afterwards, a smaller group joined us for a walk around the building to discuss accessibility and explore ideas for making the environment more inclusive for people with sight loss.

What We Covered

Our talk covered a range of topics designed to build confidence and awareness around sight loss, including:

• An introduction to CamSight and the support we provide
• Common sight loss conditions and their impact
• How to talk about sight loss with confidence and respect
• The basics of sighted guide techniques

Attendees also had the opportunity to try our simulation glasses, which demonstrate different types of sight loss and help spark discussion about accessibility and inclusion.

Working Together to Improve Accessibility

We would like to thank the EMBL-EBI Training Team for their warm welcome and engagement throughout the session. It was encouraging to see so much interest in creating more accessible experiences for everyone.

If your organisation would like to learn more about sight loss awareness training or improving accessibility, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch to find out how we can help.
